An honorarium is a one-time payment of $5,000 or less, made to an individual who is not an employee of the University of Illinois, for a special and non-recurring activity or event. An honorarium may be paid to guest lecturers, persons participating in workshops and seminars, etc.
If you are paying an honorarium to a visitor, please contact the Sociology main office as soon as possible. All honorarium recipients must be set up as a vendor in Banner before an honorarium can be paid.
- U.S. Citizens and Resident Aliens must fill out a Vendor Information Form that must be turned into Vendor Maintenance at University Payables.
- Foreign Nationals, in addition to filling out a Vendor Information Form, must fill out additional required forms that must also be turned into Vendor Maintenance at University Payables.
