Jessennya has been awarded the Sociologists for Women in Society's (SWS), the Social Actions Initiative Awards for her proposal and work titled: “Feed the Block: Political Education and Community Empowerment." Jessennya is a co-founder of the grassroots mutual aid collective "Feed the Block," based in Southern California, that have created spaces and networks for BIPOC communities who are facing food and housing precarity and insecurity. This initiative supports expanding the membership and providing more resources to continue supporting the work that the mutual aid collective is doing. Congratulations Jessennya!
