Even before receiving his BA in Sociology in 1996, Eboo Patel found his niche as a community leader on the University of Illinois campus by serving as an RA and leading a volunteer student organization.
After graduation, he funneled his civic interests into founding the organization Interfaith Youth Core in 2002, followed by Interfaith America in 2022. The organizations seek to further cooperation among faith-diverse individuals and groups in order to advance social causes. He was awarded the 2024 LAS Alumni Humanitarian Award for this work in Spring of 2024.
