Hi! My name is Olivia Chingis and I am currently one of the Social Media Interns for the Sociology Department.
I found this internship by seeing a newsletter about the class SOC 400. In the description of the SOC 400 class, there was mention that you could have an internship within SOC advising and I immediately became interested.
I talked to Morgan and she told me about the position of being a social media intern. I work with another social media intern to maintain the social media platforms for the sociology department, specifically Instagram and LinkedIn. We post campus events and resources, like scholarships on the story and events for our sociology students, and interview staff and students.
What I enjoy the most about my internship is the creative freedom I have to express myself and help other students get the resources they need. In addition to making posts, I really enjoy getting to learn more about sociology through this internship. This internship is a different approach to learn more about sociology than to sit in lectures and take notes, but a way to apply it creatively.
