Brandon Gonzalez - My Internship Experience

Outside of the classroom, internships are a great way to use your hands and see the inner workings of an organization. Brandon, a senior, got to dive into the Champaign County District Attorney's Office during his internship and explore the legal world first-hand. Here is Brandon's reflection about his internship journey:

  • Where did you find your internship?
    • I discovered this fantastic internship opportunity through the UIUC Sociology social media page on Instagram, where they posted about fall internships. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to seize the opportunity.

  • What do you usually do for this position?
    • In my role, I engage in a diverse range of office tasks, but the primary focus of my work revolves around examining evidence related to various crimes. Additionally, I take meticulous notes on the indexed documents pertaining to crimes in the Champaign-Urbana area, utilizing various software tools.

  • How are you enjoying it so far? What do you enjoy the most?
    • What I find most fulfilling about my internship is the tangible sense of contributing to social ends through my work. It's incredibly rewarding to know that the work I do serves a larger social purpose.
