Professor Ghassan Moussawi was recently interviewed for and featured in an article by Jodi Heckel, Arts and Humanities Editor at the Illinois News Bureau. The article is entitled, "Illinois professor uses LGBTQ voices in Beirut to understand daily violence, disruption," and was published Thursday, September 3rd in the "Research News" section. In the article, Professor Moussawi explains the critical relevance of the research he conducted in Beirut for his recently published book, "Disruptive Situations: Fractal Orientalism and Queer Strategies in Beirut." The book examines the daily survival strategies of Beirut’s LGBTQ residents as they adapt to an ever-changing situation - "similar to the uncertainty and the struggle to adapt to changing circumstances that we all find ourselves in during the COVID-19 pandemic."
